  • FBLA's next meeting is on Tuesday, September 30th from 3:30-4:30 in the Commons. It will also be FBLA spirit day so please wear an FBLA shirt or FBLA's colors: Blue, Gold, and white. At the meeting we will begin the Event Selection Process for 2025-26. 

  • Computer Science Honors Society Attention programmers! Computer Science Honors Society (CSHS) is opening applications for new members to apply this school year. In order to join, you must have taken at least one CS class here at Central and earned at least a B- in the class.   • African American club is cancelled for today! Please join us next Wednesday for our meeting 3:30-4:30 in the library den!   • Central’s Drama Club will have our next meeting this Friday (9/26) from 3:30-4:30 in Decker Theater. All are welcome to attend, so grab a friend and come see what Drama Club has to offer! We will be discussing our first club social event of the year, as well as other important upcoming events and dates leading up to our first main stage production of the year. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Chess club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays in The Den. We start right after school and go to 5:00. We welcome all ability levels as we work on beginning ideas to tactics, to openings, to endgame themes, and more. Hope to see you there!

  • Do you like to argue, think critically, and stand your ground? Join Debate Club! You don’t have to be a debater either—join us and be a judge, or an interactive audience member during the Q&A section. Come challenge ideas, build confidence, and have fun.   • Central’s Film Club will have its first meeting of the semester on Monday after school till about 4:30 in Room 2109. Come join for movie discussions, short films, games, trivia, and more as we snack and decide what our plans are for the year.   • Drama Club will be hosting our first social event of the year, this Saturday (10/4) at 2pm at Curtis Orchard & Pumpkin Patch.   • Central Girls Swim and Dive won their Tuesday dual meet against Urbana. The final score was Central Maroons 130.5 and Urbana 53.5. Congratulations to our swimmers and divers! We will be swimming this Saturday at the Charger Invite at Centennial if you want to come see some great races

  • Open mats will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 in the wrestling room. If you have any questions, feel free to speak to Coach Birt or one of the wrestlers.

  • Our Girls Tennis team beat Normal West 8-1 Tuesday night.  Congratulations to our tennis team

  • Congratulations to the cross country teams who participated in the Bartlett Flyin’ Hawk invite on Saturday.  Caleb Mathias and Reese Baumann established the school records for the course.  Mathias, Noah Green, Ty Yoder, and Carly Lamoreux all placed in the top 25 in their respective races.

Parkland College Open House Opportunities:

  • Surgical Technology:  On Wednesday, September 24, guests interested in healthcare can tour the updated mock operating room and educational spaces from 4–6 p.m. in B124.  The open house is also an opportunity to learn more about the surgical technology profession and opportunities Parkland’s program has to offer.  Those who attend the free event can expect to see demonstrations and hands-on activities related to the program.  Registration is not required.   • Electrical, HVAC, Industrial Career Workshop: Parkland College will host a free career exploration workshop featuring its Electrical Power; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC); and Industrial Technology programs for area high school and home school students.  The workshop will be held on Friday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room M131 on Parkland's main campus.  Led by Parkland Career and Technical Education instructors working in these industries, students will experience hands-on learning opportunities, including:

    • constructing, testing, and troubleshooting general lighting circuits in Parkland's Residential Wiring Lab

    • learning HVAC maintenance and fabrication in Parkland's HVAC Lab

    • participating in repairing mechanical systems in Parkland's Manufacturing Lab

This workshop requires active student participation.  A safety release is required for each student. The completed form should be ready to turn in on the day of the event. Lunch will be provided. Seating is limited.  Students can sign up for the workshop here.
