UIUC, "A Walk for Education (AWFE)" Sponsored by the National Society of Black Engineers:  Please see attachment. A walk for education.pdf

From Kathure Mugambi:

"I am a sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This academic year I serve as the Community Outreach Chair of the National Society of Black Engineers at UIUC.  Our chapter is a registered student organization on campus, and we are hosting a virtual version of our annual A Walk for Education (AWFE) event this Saturday the 24th from 10am-12pm CT on Zoom.

AWFE is a grassroots program in which NSBE members provide information about college and transitioning from high school, our NSBE chapter, and what a degree in STEM can look like and where it can take you. The event will consist of an activity to allow participants to be acquainted with one another, a panel of engineering and science undergraduates, and a slides presentation of resources for Black students in STEM. We will conclude with a Q&A period.

Many of us within NSBE are the only ones in our families to be pursuing a degree in science or engineering. We know how difficult it can be to navigate such fields without knowing people who have been in our shoes. Our goal with AWFE is to be that resource for high school students. If it were not for NSBE's outreach at my high school, I may not have chosen my current path in science, and I do not know where I would be today if I hadn't."
