Preparing for college is a long process that starts well before senior year. It involves a lot of thoughtful planning. You have to eventually decide what you want to do in life. It’s not too early to start in your freshman year. Come listen to what it takes to get into the most selective colleges from a Yale alumni who interviews students locally for Yale, and is the father of 2 Central HS students. Philbert Chen, MD, is an alumni interviewer for Yale. He’s been interviewing high school students for 20 years. He’s a practicing physician and teaches innovation at both the medical school and business school. He mentors student groups on multiple campuses including the U of I, Yale, MIT, Johns Hopkins.

Central Drama Club will host an improv comedy show performed by local professional team Zoo Improv on March 27 at 7:00 pm in Decker Theatre.  Admission is free.  All are welcome to join us for an evening of laughs!

Volunteering Opportunity

The Champaign County Forest Preserve District offers wonderful summer volunteer opportunities for 11-17 year old students. Our Counselor-In-Training program strives to provide leadership and job experience for students through weekly engagement. Volunteers could also help at one of our single day public events held throughout the summer. For those who like more independent work, we have options with museum collections and natural areas maintenance.
