Black History Fact:  Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity was founded on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on December 4th, 1906.  Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity currently has more than 850 chapters around the world and over 185,000 members.


Great Day for Central Jazz Bands & Combos at the EIU Jazz Festival in Charleston last Saturday. Our combos were awarded 1st and 2nd place in the Competitive Combo Category. Our Lab band was named 3rd Place in Class A and our Jazz Ensemble was named 1st Place in Class A. Congratulations to all of our student musicians who participated.

If any student is interested in joining the TRiO, the Academic Talent Search College Prep Program, applications are available in room 227.

Spanish club TODAY!  Come celebrate Valentine's Day with food and friends!

The Model United Nations Club will meet after school TOMORROW in room 204.

Asian American Association will hold its’ Lunar New Year Potluck TOMORROW at 3:30p in the Library Lecture Hall.  Please RSVP to Miss Long to attend.

There will be a parent and student meeting TOMORROW night at 7:00p in Room 219 to discuss the 2019 Spring trip to Italy.  All art students and culinary art students are welcome to come with a parent or guardian.

Calling all 9th, 10th and 11th graders! We have a display of Chromebook cases in the library and want to know what student think is the best. Vote for your favorite today through this Thursday at your maroon library.

Seniors!  Diplomas will be ordered soon! If you would like to make any changes to your name for your diploma, please come to the main office no later than this Friday, February 16th.

Student Council will NOT meet TOMORROW. We will meet on the 20th at 7:30 am. 

On February 22nd, Student Council will host our annual Spring Blood Drive. If you like to donate please see Ms. Pennock in room 208. You must be at least 16 years old and weigh 110 pounds. 

The 20th Annual Swing Central will be held at the Champaign Country Club on Friday, February 23. Due to the popularity of this event, reservations are required for dinner tickets and strongly encouraged for dance-only tickets. Spring Fling will be held February 24th from 7-10 pm. Tickets will be sold the week of the dance during lunches and at the door. The theme is Wizard of Oz and there will be a spirit week, days to come soon. 

The CHS Junior-Senior Prom is May 12th from 7-11pm at the I-Hotel. The theme for this year's prom is "Hollywood Red Carpet". We are asking all students that would like to participate in the prom t-shirt design contest to submit an electronic .jpeg image to Mr. Woods at woodsjo@u4sd.org by Friday, March 9. The winner of the t-shirt design contest will win one prom and one post prom ticket to this year's event. 


Congratulations to the varsity girls' basketball team on their 67-28 victory over Rantoul last night in the regional quarterfinals. The girls' will face Paris on Wednesday at 7:30pm at Rantoul. 


TOMORROW: Greenville University will be visiting Central.  This visit is open to all students.  Please reserve a seat using your Naviance account or by visiting the College & Career Center.
