Central H.S. Announcements for 10/10/2017

PTSA

PTSA MEETING - WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11th at 7:00p in the CHS library. We'll start promptly at 7:00p and will not go over an hour. All are welcome!

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES:  Its’ that time of the year again!  Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday, October 26th from 5:00p to 8:00p and Friday, October 27th from 8:00a to 12:00p.  Conferences are 10 minutes each.  All appointments are scheduled on a “first come, first served” basis. We will start scheduling appointments on Monday, October 2nd.  If you are interested in scheduling a conference, please contact Joanie Strater by email at stratejo@u4sd.org or by phone at 351-3911 with the name(s) of the teacher(s) you would like to see and your preference of an evening or morning appointment. To save time, please make sure that you give both your name AND the full name of your student when leaving a voice message or emailing.  If you request conferences via email, you will receive a confirmation email back with your scheduled conference times.  If you haven’t received a response in 4 business days, please resend your request.  The deadline to schedule appointments is Friday, October 20th.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

The library will be closed 1st-5th hour tomorrow (Wednesday) for PSAT testing.

Auditions for Mary Poppins will take place on next Monday, October 16th.  There will be a dance clinic to learn material for the audition this Wednesday from 6:00- 9:00p in Decker Theater.  You can enter through Door 11 in the service drive.  There will be a music clinic this Thursday from 4:30 – 6:30p in the Choir room where packets will be distributed.

DAC (Disability Awareness Club) is meeting this Thursday at 7:30a in the library. Please join us in making posters, setting goals and eating donuts:)

The Blood Drive will be held this Thursday in the Lower Library. You must be at least 16 and weigh 110 pounds. Please see Ms. Pennock in room 208 to sign up.

Coin Wars have ended! We raised over $500 for the hurricanes!  Congratulations to Mr. Davis’ 7th hour class who raised over $130.  They will be getting donuts!  Mr. Hwang’s class closely followed with $104 and Ms. Kautzer’s class came next with $51.  Thanks to all who contributed!

ATHLETICS

Mackenzie McCoy shot a 78 and Mia Hayasaki shot an 80 to advance to the Girls’ Golf State Tournament this weekend. The team placed 7th overall.

Congratulations to the Girls' Tennis team on their 5th place team finish at the Big 12 Conference Championship over the weekend, and on their 7-2 victory over Urbana yesterday. 

Congratulations to the Boys’ Golf team on winning the Boys' Golf sectional tournament on Monday at the U of I Golf Course to advance to the State Tournament this weekend. The boys shot a 302 as a team. Justin McCoy shot 67 to earn tournament medalist honors. Conor Butts and Cage Sestak each shot a 78 and Hayden Cekander added a 79 to round out the team scoring. Noah Brunson and Sam Watts both added 81 for the Maroons.

COLLEGE AND CAREER

TONIGHT Central will be hosting its Financial Aid Night from 6:00 - 7:30p in the Library Lecture Hall.  There is no need to RSVP for the event.  Please contact Tony Tanner (College & Career Counselor) for any questions.
