Central H.S. Announcements for 01/31/2018 

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

The Improv Group is holding extra practices this week and we invite you to come check it out.  If you want to laugh, have fun, and even become more confident, Improv Comedy is for you.  Join us in the lower library TODAY and TOMORROW from 3:30p - 5:30p.  See Mrs. Wachtel in room 321 if you have questions.

Peer Mediation field trip forms are due to Miss Long by the end of the day TODAY, in her mailbox or in the AP office.  Please contact her with questions.

French Club will celebrate la Chandeleur by making crepes TODAY after school from 3:30p - 4:30p in room 117. See your French teacher to sign up.

Social Justice Committee will meet TOMORROW during 6th hour in room 206 to plan the February Real Talk.  Bring a lunch and your ideas for topics of discussion.

Girls Who Code will meet TOMORROW after school. We will be having a guest speaker from Unit 4's tech department showing us how Spheros work (which is a mini version of BB8 from Star Wars).

Please support French Club by eating at Panera on Kirby TOMORROW from 4:00p – 8:00p.  Mention our club to support our fundraiser. Merci!

Students interested in learning about racial identity development and becoming advocates for racial justice should consider joining RISE. RISE, the Racial Identity Student Experience, is comprised of students from Central, Centennial, and Novak and caring adults who wish to formulate a progressive understanding about race. All genders and gender expression are welcome. A light dinner will be provided. The next meeting is here at Central on Tuesday, February 6th,  in room 218A and College and Career Center from 4:00p -5:30p. Interested students can see Ms. Flugge, Mr. Cooper, and Mr. Shelden Turner for more information.   

Art club will not meet this week, but please turn your field trip forms in. Forms are due at our next meeting on Friday, February 8th!

 ATHLETICS 

All girls interested in joining track this season:  This Friday, February 2nd, will be the last day to register.  Please stop by the athletic office or see Coach Hood for details

COLLEGE & CAREERS

The following representatives will be visiting Central next week:

Next Tuesday: There will be a presentation by the University of Illinois regarding the Parkland Pathway program.  Also, Central's U.S. Navy recruiter will be meeting with students.  

Next Wednesday, The representatives from Eastern Illinois University will be meeting with any seniors who would like to apply to EIU.  The representatives will be waiving the $30 application fee during this event.  

Next Thursday, Central's Marine Corps recruiter will be meeting with any students who are interested in learning more about the United States Marine Band.  Also, the Paul Mitchell the School-Normal will be meeting with students who are interested in learning more about the beauty treatment field.

To reserve a seat, students are to use their Naviance account or can visit the College & Career Center.
